Growing up in a family that spent its holidays in many different parts of Southern Africa, I have a great passion for the outdoors and an intense yearning to travel the rest of the world. This love of travel and adventure has been passed on to our three sons, who have accompanied us on our camping trips around South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
I am a registered tour guide, a fully qualified and experienced yoga teacher and was a High School English and Vocational Guidance teacher before becoming a mother. My other passions besides my family, my garden and our dogs are hiking, kayaking, being with good friends and interesting people and experiencing new tastes, different cultures and exotic places.
In September 2009 my husband and I travelled through Turkey and we were enchanted- by the very varied landscape, the history, the architecture, both ancient and modern, the culture and the warm and generous people. As a result, this Turkey Sojourn came into being, based on what we found most worthwhile, most exciting and most worth re-visiting.
In March this year my mom joined me for a 3 week trip through Morocco where we travelled with two of my sons who were spending the year abroad, one in the USA and one in the UK. Morocco seemed to be a sensible place to meet – and we loved it! It too is a country of contrasts, of kind and friendly people, of a awe-inspiring architecture and of fascinating history.
